Happy 2nd Anniversary Abhi-Ash

Bollywood’s super couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan celebrate their second wedding anniversary today on April 20th.
Apparently the hot couple is off to a week long vacation at an undisclosed location.

A source says, “Last year Abhishek was slogging it out in Miami for Dostana and Aishwarya joined him there for their wedding anniversary. This year they were again supposed to be working, though happily together, for the next schedule of Mani Ratnam’s Raavan on their anniversary.”

But due to Mani Ratnam’s recent health scare, the duo have got ample time for themselves due to no shooting schedule.

The source adds, “In fact Mani had suggested he’d start the schedule later to give Abhishek and Aishwarya a chance to take time off for their anniversary. But the couple had refused. It’s only now when the schedule is pushed ahead that they’ve decided to take that anniversary holiday.”

We wish you a very happy anniversary Abhi-Ash, may you stay together till the end of your lives. :)

Sighs Saif, "This relationship is 'IT' for me. Today I feel very settled and very happy. Though a bit lonely. And when I've bad days I feel I'm being ungrateful. I'm now looking forward to settling down with Kareena.

Our marriage will happen very shortly as soon as we both have a little less work on hand and we can give the marriage quality time. Also, her family has to be ready for our marriage."

Saif is very happy with Kareena's mom. "We're very close. She has been really gracious in inviting me into her family.

She's made sure I'm part of her family. I've also met Daboo Uncle a few times, shared friendly drinks with her. As for Karisma, I think she's the sweetest girl ever in the world. I'm deeply fond of both Karisma and her husband Sanjay. They're truly wonderful people. Kareena's family has taken to me as warmly as my family has taken to her."

Saif has a lot to be thankful for. "My lifestyle has changed completely after the heart attack. Looking back it's hard to believe I went through such a health scare.

If it wasn't for that life-changing experience I wouldn't be in a relationship with Kareena right now. I hardly drink. Don't even look forward to drinking any more. I don't smoke or party."

Fathers don’t preach is this what Asin is feeling?

When Bollywood actresses are often accompanied by their mothers on the sets our Ghajini actress Asin is often always accompanied by her father on the sets of the film. Asin’s father Joseph Thottumkal better known as JT is an exception.

He tags along wherever the Ghajini actress goes, including award functions and product launches. Though JT was managing his own business, as soon as his daughter shot to stardom, he decided to let go of his entrepreneurship to manage his daughter’s work.

He even accompanies her to all her foreign shoots and the latest is that he has also shifted based to Mumbai to be with her. Sources reveals that now when Asin is shooting for her forthcoming venture Vipul Shah’s London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, JT was always around advising his daughter. This did not go down too well with Salman and he was often irked by the father’s interference. Yet Salman tried being courteous to him.” There was a buzz that Salman has taken a liking to his London Dreams co-star and has been showering her with gifts. Naturally since Asin’s father is constantly by his daughter’s side Salman must be finding it a little difficult to be friendly to her.

SRK feels he is less intelligent than Aamir

SRK is always known to make people laugh with his jokes, his humour is not only directed at others but the dimpled actor also mocks himself for entertaining others. When the power Khans of the industry SRK and Aamir came together for a meeting with Mulitplex owners, SRK was at his usual witty best.

When the media asked weather the two Khans will be seen together soon, he replied, “It’s nice to sit on the podium together, it’ll be nice to sit in a car together, it’ll even be nice to do a film together.”

When a journalist asked SRK weather he got together with Aamir only for this cause, he said, “We’re mature, intelligent people, I’m a little less intelligent than Aamir, but our camaraderie is really a non-issue right now. There are bigger things that need attention.”

Slumdog milioner kid, Tanay will be seen as young SRK

At least one child protegee has been spared the trauma of underage overexposure. Tanay Chheda, who plays the protagonist Jamal's childhood avatar in Slumdog Millionaire, has had his share of fame and recognition, at least for now. He wants to concentrate on his studies and focus on just that one film.

"And that's Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan. I play the childhood portions of Shah Rukh Khan's role. It's a small role and a very important film. And it will be shot during my holidays. Except for My Name Is Khan, my parents have decided to let me concentrate on my studies."

Tanay is shifting from his current school Campion in Colaba to the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Bandra and is geared up for a new life in a new school. He completely dismisses stories of replacing Darsheel Safary in Anil Monga's film Padduram. "I don't know where that came from. I haven't said yes to any such film," protests Tanay.

Tanay who played Darsheel Safari's best friend in Taare Zameen Par got the role of the younger Jamal in Slumdog Millionaire by chance. "I couldn't go to the auditions. But, eight months later, they came to my school for auditions. Luckily by chance, I got the role. They had to work a lot on my physical appearance to make me look compatible with Ayush who played the youngest Jamal. They straightened my curly hair, etc. Also, they had to darken all of us three who played Jamal (Ayush, Tanay and Dev Patel) to look like we were constantly exposed to the sun. My makeup used to take 90 minutes every day."

And he will now be playing the role of junior Shah Rukh Khan in Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan, a decision that Karan took after watching Slumdog Millionaire, says the 12-year son of a business family whose life has transformed almost overnight.

"My family and friends are very proud of me. It feels really good. For my friends I'm still the same Tanay. I'm a movie freak. When I walked the red carpet, I could recognize everyone who walked by," he says.

Tanay has to sit for his elocution exams at Trinity College in London. "But coping with the studies is no problem. All my teachers have been very co-operative. Half of Slumdog Millionaire was shot during my vacations."

Surprisingly, Tanay says acting is a hobby. "Right now, I just want to enjoy my childhood. I'm passionate about football. And I love to write. I've lots of stories to tell. As far as movies are concerned, my next release is Mastang Mama, where Ruslaan Mumtaz and I play mama-bhanja. I know that another Slumdog may not happen. But like my dialogue in film goes, it's all about destiny."

Tanay misses the Slumdog team. "But we keep meeting for premieres and awards function. And we all keep in touch through the email. We were all one big family."

Bollywood is now facing its hardest times

Bollywood stars are finding a new career everywhere but their prime occupation of working films is in doldrums. The current Bollywood producers versus Multiplexes war have created more problems for this ailing industry that has faced consecutive jolts with back-to back flops.

In year 2009, the box office scenario was bad to worse where no major hits were reported and the tally of flops went rising with flow of multiple releases every week. In hot pursuit of finding an amicable solution to this problem, arch-rivals Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan joined together as mouthpiece and along with dozens of renowned film personalities addressed a press conference. It looked more melodramatic than rational when these two big-wigs buried their hatchet and spoke for the film fraternity. Despite their light humored antics, the mood was moreover tensed with the tension showing on the faces of many distributors, producers, exhibitors and actors, presiding over the conference.

To add more fuel to the fire, cricket carnival IPL is all to barge households in coming weekends and it can well be apt replacement for the cinema entertainment. According to media reports, film producers gave an ultimatum to revenue sharing to the diverse multiplex lobby. On flip side, multiplexes have been demanding more flexibility in the revenue sharing and have denied 50: 50 revenue sharing. They have demanded performance based revenue sharing and are ready to share more if the collections attain a substantial rise.

It has resulted in a “No-release” deadlock situation where multiplexes have refused to release any film till the matter is resolved peacefully. Bollywood producers and distributors strongly believe that 50:50 revenue sharing is fair and normal, by all standards. According to them, it is universal and there has to be no issue for not accepting it. On the other hand, multiplexes owners differ in their opinion and feels that the present state of box office clearly indicates that neither the star cast nor the budget of the movie guarantees success. The disappointments of three big flops (CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, DELHI-6 and BILLU) have aggravated the situation and have added more worries to the fraternity. The minor successes of mediocre hits like DEV D and RAAZ-THE MYSTERY CONTINUES were not substantial that can really fill the empty coffers. The producers have taken a firm stand of not releasing any film and it has resulted in dry spell of new releases at the box office. The effect is so immense that there are no promos of any upcoming movie on any media circuits. It is clear that the disagreement and confrontation is not expected to end before the month of May, 2009.

The last release 8X10 TASVEER, starring Akshay Kumar added the last nail in the coffin as the film went horribly wrong with media as well as with the masses. The coming month of May will be tougher for Bollywood as their entertainment will be at loggerheads with flashier IPL 20-20 Cricket matches. It has gloss as well as stardom attached to it and will be aired at prime time on TV channels. It is likely to retarding the interest of the viewers and will be affecting the fortune of new releases. The conflict has suggested the reality that the quality and performance of present-day cinema is not up to the mark. It seems that producers have taken audiences lightly and have compromised over quality and substance in their presentation and work.

It is concluded that there is no sure-shot formula for success. Even the fat pay-cheques of big stars sounds fake, and the garish promotions of new releases sounds unnecessary as the film underperforms badly. Let’s hope that this can add more quality, spirit and substance in multiplexes cinema which is reeling under the pressure of sub-standard entertainment.
